Women’s Fitness Personal Trainer & Founder

Hey there! I'm Mel Grauds, Women’s Certified Personal Personal based in Toronto. I used to be a total newbie to the fitness world, so I know how confusing it can be to navigate. And that's exactly why I became a trainer - to make it easier for you so you don’t have to figure it all out on your own.

Whether you’re trying to build a stronger core or you just want your fitness journey to be more fun, my approach is all about feeling good and getting those results you want in a simple/efficient way. As a woman myself, I totally get how it can be easy to get caught up in chasing that perfect body shape. My sessions are all about breaking free from that negative mindset and instead focus on building up a you that is stronger and more confident - which is the key to making your workouts stick. I take a holistic, evidence-based approach to your fitness routine, making sure your overall health and wellness are always considered.

The Workouts

Classes are beginner-friendly, low-impact and range from 30-60 minutes in length. Workouts include a variety of formats including full-body, upper-body, lower-body, core & more.

Recommended equipment: 2 dumbbells & booty band.

  • Our signature low-impact dumbbell-based class, designed to optimize strength, muscle & metabolism. Strength classes include a variety of formats including full-body, upper-body, lower body, glutes & core.

    How you’ll feel post class: Strong AF & energized

  • Inspired by barre & Pilates, our newest class focuses on light weights & higher reps, optimized for muscular endurance.

  • Bootcamp, but make it strength, featuring our favourite high-intensity exercise combos for your sweatiest burn and the most muscles working.

  • Welcome to Power - combining strength with a splash of strategic hiit/impact. Mods offered for low-impact variations as well.

What Are the Benefits of Joining the MELROSE Training Club?

What Workouts Are Included?

All MTC workouts focus on simple and efficient compound exercises that work multiple muscle groups at once. Examples include squats, push-ups, planks, and lunges. Modifications are offered for everyone to have an amazing workout. All workouts are suitable for all levels and all workouts (except for Power) are low-impact. The training club includes hundreds of on-demand workouts, plus additional stretches, foam roll sessions, and exclusive events to enrich your well-being and complement your workouts.

Why Join the Membership?

A big part of creating a sustainable routine starts with incorporating fitness into your unique lifestyle, rather than changing your schedule to match someone else’s. Based on your feedback, we redesigned MTC to include more flexibility and fit workouts into your unique schedule and lifestyle. With these changes, we can now offer MTC at a lower cost, making fitness more accessible for everyone to use on its own or pair with any in-person workouts you’re doing in the gym or studio.

What Equipment Do I Need?

All workouts are designed to be done with minimal equipment. We recommend having 1-2 sets of dumbbells (5-10 lbs and 12+ lbs) and a resistance band, though the band is not required. If you have any questions, we can help you get set up with at-home equipment.

Do I Need Strength Training Or Fitness Experience?

Not at all! Our goal is meet you wherever you are in your fitness journey and to bring strength training to everyone. All MTC workouts include modifications and options so everyone can feel strong and confident, and you have access to direct support from your trainer. Mel herself started as a beginner only a few years ago, and strives to go above and beyond to help you feel comfortable and have fun working out.

Do I Need To Do Cardio Too?

Great question, we get this one a lot! Full-body, simple/efficient strength training works your entire body, gets your heart rate up, builds cardiorespiratory endurance + more – all with the added benefits of more muscle/strength + skill!

Lifting weights is super fun and challenging, plus our STRENGTH BOOTCAMP + POWER classes are ultra high-intensity. If you wish to add additional workouts on top of the training club, our best recommendation is a few brisk walks/week to complement your training, improve your recovery and avoid overtraining. Feel free to reach out if you have specific questions about finding your unique routine.

How Many Workouts Should I Do Per Week?

We are here to adapt the program to you and build a balanced and sustainable routine. We recommend one to three classes to start for beginners (focusing on full-body classes), and at minimum one to two full rest days for all MTC members. We are here with you every step of the way to find the best balance for you and navigate the challenges of day-to-day life!
